Hyderabad Jan 24 (): A three-day National Fish Festival will be conducted at Peoples Plaza on Necklace Road from Feb 1 to 3, according to Sandip Kumar Sultania, Chief Minister Secretary and Fisheries director Rani Kumidini. National Fisheries Development Board (NFDB) in coordination with the state government will organise the program to create awareness among people to eat fish to keep healthy as 40 per cent of Indians do not eat fish.
Addressing a press conference at Haritha Plaza here they said that the national fisheries festival will be conducted on a grand note in the city. All arrangements have been made for the program they said. While Sandip Kumar will deliver a key note address, Rani Kumidini will make presidential address on the occasion. The festival will have 20 stalls at the plaza including restaurants, government organisations and entrepreneurs are participating with special fish cuisines, traditional dishes on fish, shrimp and other varieties.
Also to be on display and sales are value added fishery products, dry, frozen and ready to eat fish and shrimp. They also appealed to people to visit the plaza and take fish food. Fish food suggested by American Heart Association to make fish part of diet as it comprises excellent nutrition, high quality protein, omega-3 fatty acids and a wide variety of vitamins and minerals.
