Hyderabad Jan 25 (): Governor ESL Narasimhan on Friday stated Telangana should achieve 90 per cent of voting in forthcoming Lok Sabha polls. The people can decide their future by participating in the elections process and using their vote he said. He was addressing a program on National Voter Day at Ravindra Bharathi here and released a poster, brochure and help line number 1950 to mark national voter day. On the occasion, the Governor felt that the people can have right to question the government on its failures if they participate in the elections and vote.
We need to protect democracy by active participation in the polls as foreign teams are studying on the elections in our country. He also said that the efforts are going on to achieve 90 per cent of polling. Narasimhan appreciated CEO Rajat Kumar and police officials for peaceful conduct of the Assembly polls in Telangana state.
The CEO has denied the charges of EVMs tampering are false and wrong and the Assembly polls saw 73.4 per cent of voter turnout. The EC aims to increase the voting percentage. The EC will address the issues and the people have to enrol for their voting chance. We are succeeded in conduct the elections without any violence and repoll anywhere. He appealed to those who do not have the vote should check the list and enrol.
State Election Commissioner Nagi Reddy expressed dissatisfaction that the city people failed to participate in the voting practice while those in districts have turned out in a large numbers. Those present were Deputy CEO Budha Prasad and Joint CEO Amrapali and others.
